Raincity Athletics is a strength and conditioning facility located in Vancouver, BC. Opened in 2013, with head Coach and Co-owner Simon “Thor” Damborg leading the charge, this gym uses varied movements at high intensity and has grown like wildfire. Today they have close to 200 active members who are also raving fans.
SOLUTION
Simon worked at several different facilities before opening Raincity and had the opportunity to use multiple versions of member management software. When it came to choosing a fitness management software for his own facility, the choice to go with Zen Planner was an easy one. “I’ve used a number of other software systems while I was working at other gyms but I found most to be complicated to use. Zen Planner has the features I need but is also super intuitive to use,” says Simon.
Simon estimates Raincity probably saves about 20 hours a week using Zen Planner. He notes, “It would be a nightmare trying to handle client management, billing, scheduling, and financial reporting without Zen Planner. Plus, our athletes love Zen Planner’s mobile capabilities such as reserving classes, checking-in and recording workouts.”

When asked about advice he could give to someone evaluating fitness software Simon tells others to find a solution is easy-to-use for reporting and integrates well with other services. He also said it’s crucial that it’s easy for your athletes to use. He says, “The fewer issues athletes have doing things like reservations and check-in in your fitness software the less time you have to spend sitting answering questions. This means you can spend more time sharing your love of fitness.”
