One of the most trying parts of running an Affiliate is getting new leads through your doors. As a customer advocate at Zen Planner, I talk with hundreds of affiliate owners each year and getting more leads is always top of mind. Which is why I decided to write this post and find a few strategies box owners could employ to bring fresh prospects into their community.

So, whether you’re just starting out, experiencing a lull, or striving to maintain traction, here are 5 ways to generate more leads to help grow your business:

1). Make Sure You Have a Professional Website

With technology continuing to advance and shifting consumer behavior, having a website is no longer optional. To stand out and grow your online presence, you’ll want your site to look professional and engaging. (Shameless plug, Zen Planner offers professionally built and managed websites which integrate directly with our member management software.)

Websites are more than just a pretty way to showcase your brand, they are also fantastic communication tools to promote your business while reaching a larger audience. This is a great place for potential prospects to get a feel for your facility before trying it out.

2). Social Media – Facebook Ads

Don’t stop with just a website! Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are some of the most popular social media platforms. They’re user friendly, and not to mention free. Post images, videos, and updates about your space to showcase what you have to offer.

But the real potential lead driver for Affiliate gyms are Facebook Ads. Sure, you have to pay for them, but by targeting smartly and capping your costs you can get a decent cost per lead.  You can target your ads towards people who have related interests, live in your area, or even interacted with your site in the past but didn’t follow through.

3). Blogging

With little to no cost, blogging is an awesome marketing tool for those who utilize it effectively. Publishing a consistent stream of blog posts with content that informs and keeps your reader engaged can help bring in new prospects.

Optimize your content with search engine optimization (SEO) and keyword research to improve visibility on search engines. You’ll be reaching an audience who is already interested in the topics you’re posting. You can include widgets to entice readers to join your mailing list, or link to your homepage or sign-up options.

Search Engine Optimization is super important, but often misunderstood. Read our SEM Marketing Checklist to learn the basics.

4). Get Reviewed

This is a big one, particularly for local SEO. Many people turn to reviews before purchasing or committing. Have your existing members write a rave review on Google or Yelp! and have your friends and family “like” your Facebook page.

Positive visibility means more potential prospects. Reviews can both boost your visibility online and help gain some credibility. A potential new member is more likely to come check it out after reading about the positive impact you’ve had on others.

5). Local Events

A killer online presence is one thing, now it’s time to get out there! Look up community events near you, grab your business cards and GO. Don’t worry if the events aren’t related to your business. This is a great opportunity to make yourself known in your community and foster relationships. Prospects want to feel comfortable and learn more, this is your chance to talk up your business in a casual setting.

These are just a few recommendations your box could try in order to grow your business and gain more members. Do you use any tactics we didn’t cover that have been successful for your Affiliate? If so, let us know in the comments below!
