Why You Should Make Athlete Retention a Priority

It’s easy to assume that Wodapalooza is the little sister to the CrossFit® Games, but that’s not the case at all. Wodapalooza is a functional fitness competition, but it’s so much more. It’s a weekend long festival celebrating fitness, community, and life.

Over the past couple of years, we heard a lot of great things about Wodapalooza. Our friends who went to the event always had fun, and the photos on social media made us wish we were there. So this year, we decided to catch up with one of the event organizers to see what we could learn. We wanted to know what to expect and how to prepare for a trip to the event. Here are our top takeaways.

1. Plan for the weather

The average daytime high temperature will be in the upper 70’s, so be sure to pack sunscreen and stay hydrated. Each person can bring a small cooler into the event, and you won’t go wrong by making sure yours is full of water and a snack.

2. Carpool, Uber or Metrorail

Wodapalooza is held at the world-renown Bayfront Park, in the heart of downtown Miami. That means the views are going to be exceptional, but parking is limited and expensive. Be prepared by carpooling or taking an Uber to the event. The Metrorail is also a great choice because there is a stop right in front of the park.

3. Bring plenty of money

The Wodapalooza team has you covered. There will be vendors selling all different kinds of food. From traditional festival food to grass-fed burgers and sweet potato fries, you’ll be able to find what you want on site.

Spectators who like a beer with their WOD will also be in luck. There will be several bars serving adult beverages and plenty of jumbotrons to help you follow the competition. Retailers like Progenex, Reebok, and our partner, Hylete, will also be there to keep you stocked up on supplements and clothing.[clearfix]

4. Buy your tickets early

Last year the line to buy tickets was frustratingly long. To avoid the line this year, buy your tickets ahead of time on the Wodapalooza website. Then when you get there, you’ll be able to use your phone to scan the ticket’s barcode and walk directly into the event.

5. Bring the kids

There’s something at this event for everyone, including the kids. From fire-breathers to dunk tanks, zip lines, and bounce houses, you won’t have to work hard to keep everyone entertained.

The upcoming Wodapalooza event takes place January 15th-17th, 2016. We’re wishing all our Zen Planner customers competing in this event the very best of luck.

Good luck to our customer, Ben Smith, and his brothers Alec and Dane, at Wodapalooza 2016. We are looking forward to cheering your team on!
